Buddy Guy, Junior Wells – Going Back To Acoustic (Pure Pleasure)

During their 1981 tour of Europe, Guy and Wells took a break from their accompanying band and the amps played this spontaneous and purely acoustic recording. The result is in stark contrast to the powerful Chicago blues the duo is known for. Instead, the recordings are relaxed and personal, with an intimate, almost homely feeling.

Guy alternates between six- and twelve-string guitars and prepares the ground for Wells' perfectly harmonizing harmonica playing by means of inspiring acoustic rhythms. Both are responsible for the vocal contribution, a tribute to the original roots of country blues, to which both men of modern blues refer together.
